As part of its provider assurance role, the NHS Business Services Authority (BSA) carries out Dental Assurance Reviews of specific areas of contract activity, including 28-day reattendance, Band 3 activity and mid-year/year-end contract reconciliation.
The 28-day reattendance activity reviews consider the number of patients that reattend within 28 days of receiving treatment. BSA activity reviews are not limited to reattendance within 28 days. The BSA seeks information from providers whose activity does not follow expected patterns to understand why. This advice sheet should provide general guidance as to how to approach these reviews.
