The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement for health and social care providers to ensure that their staff receive training on learning disability and autism.
We understand that the training that the whole dental team need to undertake is part one tier two and part two tier two. The tier two training is for people who may need to provide care and support for autistic people or people with a learning disability. This would apply to dentists and nurses, and it is doubtful whether a practice would need to set up a different training course for administrative staff.
Part one tier two is an e-learning segment and our Oliver McGowan mandatory training is developed to ensure that you meet these initial requirements. It is available to members, and to staff on our Good Practice Scheme.
Part two tier two is a one-day face-to-face training course that the Government expects will be available later this year.
